Dr. Laura Hills Facilitates Team-Building at Georgetown University Hospital
Dr. Laura Hills conducted a hands-on team-building retreat for Georgetown University Hospital’s Pediatric Department on May 26.
May 26, 2011:
Balloon structures, a deserted island exercise, and a Native American medicine wheel all came into play on May 26 when Blue Pencil Institute president Dr. Laura Hills facilitated a half-day team-building retreat for more than 80 members of the Georgetown University Hospital pediatrics department. Participants increased their understanding of and ability to function as a team while having fun and engaging in group activities.
“I enjoy facilitating team-building retreats like this one because I’m a great believer in learning-by-doing,” Dr. Hills explains. She adds, “You can talk about team-building, and that’s great. But the lessons don’t usually sink in until you put them into use. The team-building exercises we did today gave participants an opportunity to do just that.”
Dr. Hills facilitated the program in conjunction with Northern Virginia Community College’s Workforce and Continuing Education Division.
